How We Choose Your Tox: Jeuveau, Dysport, and Xeomin
"Which one is best?" is one of the most common questions we get about tox. The honest answer: the best one is the one that fits your face, your goals, and your history. Here's how we think about it.
Which neurotoxin is best?
There isn't one best neurotoxin for everyone. Jeuveau, Dysport, and Xeomin are all FDA-approved to temporarily improve the look of frown lines between the brows, and all work by relaxing the muscles behind expression lines. The right choice depends on your goals, your past results, and your provider's assessment.
The three we offer
Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA), from Evolus, is the newest of the three on our menu and the first developed only for aesthetic use.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA), from Galderma, has been used in aesthetics in the U.S. since 2009.
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA), from Merz, is purified to remove the accessory proteins found in other formulations.
Each one has its own formulation and its own feel in practice. None of them is a downgrade or an upgrade from the others.
What we consider when choosing
Your history. If you've had great results with one product, there's often no reason to change. If something didn't last the way you wanted, that's useful information.
The area and your goals. A softer, barely-there look and a more noticeable smoothing call for different plans, and the product is one part of that plan.
How your face moves. We watch your expressions before we decide anything. Muscle strength and movement patterns vary from person to person.
Your preferences. Some patients like a specific brand or want to use a rewards program they're already enrolled in. That matters too.
Should I switch?
If you're happy with your current tox, stay with it. If you're curious about trying something different, bring it up at your next appointment. We'll talk through what you've noticed with your current results and whether a change makes sense. Switching isn't a big production; it's a conversation.
The product matters. So does the injector.
Placement, dose, and an understanding of facial anatomy have more effect on how natural your result looks than the name on the vial. Every tox plan at MPWR is built around natural movement, and our injectors are nurses working under the medical direction of Dr. Michael Wong, DO.
