PRF Hair Restoration and Nutrafol Together
Most people arrive having already tried something.
A shampoo, a supplement, a few months of hoping it was the lighting in that bathroom. By the time thinning gets brought up out loud, it's usually been on someone's mind for a year.
Here's how the two things we offer actually differ, and who each one is for.
What's the difference between PRF hair restoration and a hair supplement?
PRF hair restoration is an in-office treatment using a concentrate made from your own blood, injected into the scalp across a series of sessions. A hair supplement works systemically, taken daily over months. One treats the scalp directly, the other supports from the inside — they address thinning from different directions.
What PRF actually is
We draw your blood, spin it, and use the concentrated portion — platelets and fibrin from your own body, nothing synthetic and nothing from a donor.
That concentrate goes into the scalp in the areas where thinning is showing. It's a series, typically spaced weeks apart, not a single appointment. And it's genuinely your own biology being redirected, which is why the conversation about it feels different from a conversation about a product.
PRF hair restoration is available at our Penn Township location.
What a supplement does that PRF can't
PRF is local. It goes where we put it.
A supplement is systemic, and if what's driving your thinning is happening body-wide — stress, a nutritional gap, a hormonal shift, a period of rapid weight loss — then treating one patch of scalp isn't addressing the cause.
That's the case for Nutrafol, and it's why the formulas are split by age and life stage rather than sold as one product. The formula follows what's most likely driving the change for someone in your situation.
Why they run well together
They aren't competing, and one isn't the budget version of the other.
For patients dealing with thinning from more than one direction, doing both means the scalp is being treated directly while the systemic contributors are being supported at the same time. The supplement also fills the gap between PRF sessions and after the series ends, which is when people otherwise drift.
Who isn't a candidate
We turn people away from this, and we'd rather say so here than in the room.
If your thinning is sudden, patchy, or accompanied by other symptoms, that belongs with a physician before it belongs with us. Some causes of hair loss are medical and need a diagnosis, and no amount of PRF or supplementation substitutes for finding out what's actually happening.
If your hair loss is far advanced, we'll tell you honestly what's realistic rather than sell you a series that won't deliver what you're hoping for.
And if you've just had a baby, just come off a crash diet, or just been through something significant, the honest answer might be to wait three months and see where you land.
The timeline, honestly
This is slow work. Hair grows about half an inch a month, and both approaches are working on a cycle that takes months to turn over.
Expect to judge results at the three-to-six month mark, not before. Anyone promising you a faster answer is selling you something.
We'll take photos at the start, because memory is unreliable and progress this gradual is genuinely hard to see day to day.
Start with a conversation
Come in and let us actually look at your scalp. We'll tell you which of these makes sense, whether it's one, both, or neither, and what we'd realistically expect.
If you're new to MPWR, a consultation is $100, applied in full toward the cost of your treatment. Text or call 724.201.9424 or book online.
