More Than Skin Deep: MPWR Supports a Student-Led Confidence Movement
At MPWR Aesthetics & Wellness, we believe confidence isn't just something we help people find in the treatment room — it's something worth investing in at every age, in every community.
That's why we're honored to be a drop-off location for Project Confidence, a student-led initiative started by Penn-Trafford High School junior Celia Sperber.
What Is Project Confidence?
Celia Sperber, a junior at Penn-Trafford High School in Penn Township, is working to distribute baskets filled with self-care items, room decor, and accessories to students across Westmoreland and Allegheny counties. The goal is simple but meaningful — to make teenagers who are struggling feel seen, recognized, and a little more like themselves.
Celia's motivation is personal. As someone who has navigated her own challenges with confidence and mental health during her teenage years, she knows firsthand how much it can mean to feel recognized by someone who sees you. Project Confidence is her way of paying that forward.
Why This Matters to Us
MPWR founder Brandon Mullen came across Celia's initiative on social media before she even had a chance to reach out — and it resonated immediately.
Brandon grew up in the Hempfield area and has spoken openly about struggling as a young gay man at a time when that was far from accepted. He knows what it's like to move through high school without a peer who truly understood his experience — and he knows how much a small gesture of support can mean when you're in that place.
In honor of his upcoming birthday, Brandon asked friends and family to donate to Celia's efforts instead of celebrating him. That's the kind of community we want to be.
How You Can Help
Donations — both monetary and physical items — are being accepted now. Drop-offs are welcome at the MPWR Aesthetics locations in Penn Township and Greensburg, as well as the Penn-Trafford High School main office and Penn Pals Child Care Center in Penn Township.
Celia is also looking for 20 to 30 volunteers to help gather, assemble, and distribute donation baskets to students. Anyone interested in volunteering can reach her, as well as students who would like to receive a basket can apply through the Project Confidence Facebook page.
Confidence Has Roots
What Celia is building is a reminder that confidence isn't something people are born with — it's something that gets cultivated, often with the help of others. At MPWR, that belief is at the core of everything we do. Whether it's a patient walking out feeling like themselves again, or a teenager receiving a basket that says someone sees you — the impact is real.
We're proud to support Project Confidence and encourage anyone in the Westmoreland County area to get involved.
