Behind the Brand: My Interview with Cathy Christensen of Christensen Consulting, LLC

There are few people in the medical aesthetics industry with the depth of experience and insight that Cathy Christensen brings to every conversation. I recently had the privilege of joining Cathy on her podcast to discuss the journey of building MPWR Aesthetics & Wellness, the realities of entrepreneurship, and what it takes to grow an authentic brand in today's aesthetic landscape.

About Cathy Christensen

Cathy Christensen is the founder of Christensen Consulting, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in strategy, operations, and business growth within the medical aesthetics industry. With more than 25 years of experience in aesthetics, she previously served in executive leadership roles at the American Med Spa Association (AmSpa), helping practices across the country navigate growth, compliance, operations, and long-term success. Today, she continues to advise medical spas and industry leaders on building sustainable, thriving businesses.

Suburban Success with the "Queen of Branding"

In this episode, Cathy sat down with me to discuss what it has been like building MPWR Aesthetics in Penn Township & Greensburg, Pennsylvania— suburbs of Pittsburgh—and expanding to two locations within just two years.

We talked openly about the realities of new ownership, managing multiple locations, building a recognizable brand, and navigating the constant demands of social media. As many business owners know, social media can feel like a full-time job in itself, requiring continuous creativity, consistency, and adaptability while still delivering exceptional patient experiences every day.

Cathy described me as the "Queen of Branding," which certainly gave us a few laughs, but it also sparked a meaningful conversation about what branding truly means. For me, branding extends far beyond logos and colors. It is about creating a patient experience that feels consistent, authentic, and aligned with your mission at every touchpoint.

Our conversation also explored:

  • The challenges of scaling quickly while preserving culture

  • Lessons learned during the first years of business ownership

  • Building a community-centered practice outside a major metropolitan market

  • Managing the ongoing demands of content creation and marketing

  • Remaining adaptable while staying true to your vision

One of my favorite aspects of the discussion was the honesty. Entrepreneurship is rewarding, but it is also demanding, and Cathy created a space for a candid conversation about both the victories and the realities that come with growing a business in aesthetics.

I am grateful to Cathy for the invitation and for the opportunity to share the MPWR story. Conversations like these remind me how valuable it is for aesthetic professionals to connect, share experiences, and continue learning from one another.

Thank you, Cathy, for highlighting the journeys of aesthetic entrepreneurs and for fostering conversations that help elevate our industry.
